Meet our newest ambassador, Jonte—a rising talent in the world of bull riding whose journey is as grounded as it is fearless. Growing up in country NSW, Jonte found his passion for the sport just three years ago and hasn’t looked back since, already celebrating major wins and embracing the grit that comes with it. What stands out most is his mindset: focused, resilient, and driven by community, with a deep appreciation for the people around him. From early mornings balancing work and training to pushing through the physical demands of the arena, Jonte brings determination and authenticity to everything he does—and we’re excited to have him as part of the PainPod team.
What's your favourite thing about Bull Riding?
What I love most about bull riding is the sense of community—the people in the sport genuinely want to see each other succeed.
How long have you been involved in the sport?
I have only been doing rodeo for 3 years now.
How do you juggle competing, training and work?
Rodeoing and keeping the boss happy I found it a bit tricky, but I want to learn that good communication is key, in the arvos making sure i get to the gyms and trying to squeeze in a workout.
Bull Riding is an intense sport, how does it take a toll on your body and what do you do to manage your recovery?
Bull riding is tough on the body—there’s a lot of impact, injuries, and constant strain. I manage it with proper rest, staying fit, stretching, and making sure I look after any injuries straight away so I can stay in the game
Have you experienced many setbacks?
I faced a few setbacks due to family and friends knowing it's a dangerous sport and didn't believe it's a stable career path, but with all that I never gave up and not planning on to any time soon
Jonte, tell us about your background and story to where you are today?
I was adopted to Australia when I was two months old and grew up in a small country town called Molong. I lived on a farm with about 42 members of my family, with my cousins as my neighbours. As a kid, I was always chasing adrenaline, and when a mate introduced me to bull riding, it just stuck.
What are the keys to success for anyone looking to replicate a similar pathway?
Always looking at the positives in life and not giving up.
What is your best career highlight from competing in Bull Riding?
When I won West Wylong in the open bullride and then I won the shoot out the same day.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
When God seems like he has forgotten about you, he hasn't stay strong and always trust him
