TENS + Heat, in one device
The question isn't whether TENS and heat do something. It's whether this device, at A$297, is the right call for you. Open only the bits you need.
August Product of the Month
Worth $25, added to your cart automatically. No code to remember, nothing to claim. It means you start with a spare, and Heat Pads are the one consumable this device needs.
Ends 31 August 2026.
Heat improves circulation to the area, loosens stiff joints and relaxes aching muscle. TENS floods the nervous system with gentle electrical impulses that interfere with pain signals reaching the brain, and prompts the body to produce endorphins.
PainPod Heat is the world's first FDA-cleared, medical-grade TENS device patented with heat, for the relief of muscle pain, arthritis pain and chronic pain. Run TENS, EMS and heat in isolation or combined.
The four things a $297 buyer finds out later. Tap any one.
Depends entirely on what you run. TENS only: approx. 30 hours. Heat only: approx. 2 hours. Both at the highest levels: approx. 80 minutes from fully charged. Heat draws a lot of power. If heat is your main reason for buying, plan on charging it often.
No. PainPod Heat is only compatible with the PainPod Heat Pad. Standard gel pads and the rest of the accessory range do not fit it. Every other device in the range works the other way around: all accessories and pads except Heat.

One year. Worth knowing: most of the range carries three years manufacturer plus one year battery. Heat is the exception. Compare the range side by side.
One output port, one heat pad, one area at a time. Sessions run 10 to 60 minutes. If you need to treat two separate areas simultaneously, look at a two-port device instead.

If any of those four are dealbreakers, we'd rather you knew now than after it arrived.
Two trials sit behind the combination. They found different things, and the honest version is more useful than the headline.
Eisenberg & Shebshacvich, Pain Relief Unit, Rambam Medical Center. Each patient received TENS, thermal therapy, and both simultaneously, in random order a week apart, with the assessor blinded. Across all three measures - spontaneous pain, pressure pain threshold and evoked pain - the strongest effect came from TENS and thermal therapy delivered together. The authors concluded that an individual patient is more likely to respond to the combination than to a single fixed modality.
Maeda et al., Journal of Physical Therapy Science, 2017. Patients got TENS with heat, TENS with cold, or TENS on its own. On pain while standing and walking, all three produced a significant improvement - and none beat the others. The authors found no added pain-relief effect from combining heat with TENS in this group.
What did separate them: TENS with heat was the only arm that significantly improved dynamic balance and gait ability straight after the session. The suggested reason is passive warm-up - heat raises the temperature of the muscle around the joint.
So the fair reading: adding heat is not a guaranteed multiplier on pain relief for everybody. What the two together appear to do is widen the number of people who get a result, and in the knee trial they were the only combination that had people moving more easily immediately afterwards. Whether you are one of those people is what the 60 days below is for.
Heat is likely the one if
Warmth is already what you reach for - the hot bath, the wheat pack, the heat rub. You want that plus TENS in one unit instead of juggling two things. You're treating one area at a time, somewhere you can charge it.
Look at the range if
You want more therapy modes, two independent ports, wireless receivers, longer battery, the full accessory range, or the three-year manufacturer warranty. Heat trades some of that for the one thing nothing else in the range does.
PainPod offers a 60-90 day money back guarantee on products that are not helping with your pain management. Use it for at least 60 days to give it the chance to take effect, and return it before 90 days from the date of purchase. Products physically damaged are not eligible.
That window is deliberate. Electrotherapy isn't a one-session fix - 60 days is roughly how long it takes to know honestly whether it's helping you.
Full terms on the Refund Policy. This sits on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law, it doesn't replace them.

Either. PainPod Heat lets you run TENS, EMS and heat in isolation or combined. Running both at the highest levels is what shortens the battery to around 80 minutes.
One device, one pad, one placement. It's also the world's first FDA-cleared TENS device patented with heat, so both are delivered through the same pad to the same spot rather than layered on top of each other.
We ask for 60 days of use before a guarantee claim, which is a fair indication of the timeframe. Some people feel relief in a session. Whether it holds is the thing 60 days tells you.
No. One large Heat Pad is in the box and a second comes free with your device this month. Heat Pads are consumable, so you'll reorder eventually - only the PainPod Heat Pad fits this device.
